One of our favorite snack treats has always been cheese crackers, whether a name brand that every knows or even store brand, we LOVE cheese crackers. But they are sooo expensive over time when you have 4 people eating them all the time. I decided it was time to just make my own. Luckily I had just received Adjustable Measuring Spoons and a Baker’s Roller from Ginger at Pampered Chef. First of all, my measuring spoons are all OLD and have been eaten by the garbage disposal more times than I care to admit, so the spoons were a VERY welcome addition to my kitchen! Not mention that I only need the 2 of them, 1 is a teaspoon but can be adjusted down to as low as an 1/8th of a tsp and the other one is a tablespoon that goes down to a tsp. The 2 of them basically replace 9 spoons! Means LESS dishes, and more room in my drawer. Now when it comes to the roller, I desperately needed it to replace my OLD fashioned rolling pin that I have always hated using to the point that I just never made anything that ever needed rolling at all. It was clunky, hard to clean and didn’t fit in any drawer. The Baker’s Roller has 2 sides of different sizes to flatten dough and a detachable pastry tool that created fluted edges and can be used to pierce the dough for ventilation.
Like I said, I decided to make cheese crackers and I succeeded. They aren’t exactly the same as store bought as they are a bit tangier and definitely not as airy, but we REALLY like them! This particular batch was too thick though and we will use the roller to make them thinner. I was honestly too afraid to go too thin, now I know better!
I also wanted to shape them rather than do squares but I think I will just go back and forth there, I sort of want square ones now! Anyways, without further adieu, here is what we did! First of all, I asked hubby for help and he basically took over for me. Of course I didn’t mind, it just meant I could take more pics!
I am becoming OBSESSED with Pampered Chef and finally understand why many others are as well. For instance, I want to collect many of their Christmasy dinnerware and then have many parties to show them off. Then I want some mini cookie cutters, mainly to make my crackers with but also yummy sugar cookies, food storage labels since I have started freezer cooking (I may blog about that later, not sure). A brownie pan is important since the corners are the best party, a MUCH better cooking rack than I currently have and then the piece de resistance is the apple peeler/corer/slicer and stand. That way I can make delicious apple pies, turnovers, applesauce and more!
It’s not surprising though that the Deep Covered Baker and the Batter Bowl are Gingers best sellers. I have been wanting a good quality baker for awhile now and finally found one I want to try and then the batter bowl would be PERFECT for making pancakes at our house.
