A special thanks to Big G Cereal for sponsoring today’s post.

At least once a week, we try to do a family night, sometimes it’s games, other times it’s movies.  Ok, MOST of the time, it’s movies!  What can I say, we love movies, especially older ones from mine and hubby’s childhood and we like to share them with the kids.  Last weekend we watched Ducktales the Movie and the kids LOVED it!  This weekend though, we had a chance to download a free movie from Big G (General Mills) Cereal.  Right now, they are doing a promotion, buy 2 participating Big G cereals, with the Digital HD Movie Download banner and you can get one of 10 movies FREE!!

Participating Cereals are:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios
  • Fruity Cheerios
  • Frosted Cheerios
  • Lucky Charms
  • Reese’s Puffs
  • Trix
  • Cocoa Puffs
  • Golden Grahams

The movies available are:

  • Anastasia
  • The Chronicles of Narnia:The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid
  • Dr. Dolittle
  • Home Alone 2:Lost in New York
  • Ice Age:Dawn of the Dinosaurs
  • Marmaduke
  • Mr. Poppers Penguin
  • Night at the Museum
  • We Bought a Zoo

So we set out to do a movie night again last night courtesy of #biggcerealmovies, I mean why not, cereal and a free movie?  Yeah, it was on!  But, I wanted to give my kids something more special than a bowl of cereal which they have everyday anyways.

So hubby was at the store and said he was in the mood for some pudding and oh yeah, I had a brilliant idea!!  Maybe it’s only brilliant to me, but hey the kids are happy so that’s what matters!!  I decided to make Cereal Pudding Parfaits using Reeses Puffs and Golden Grahams.  It’s a very simple recipe; just your favorite Big G Cereal and a complimenting pudding flavor.  We chose store bought since I have never attempted homemade pudding and wanted something quick and easy for movie night.  But I am now inspired to try and make it homemade!!  Then you simply layer the 2 ingredients, cereal, then pudding and so on!  We chose vanilla for the Golden Grahams and the obvious choice of Chocolate for the Reeses Puffs.

Let me just say, it was a success, the kids loved it and heck, so did hubby and I.  I especially liked the Golden Grahams parfait and the kids loved the Reeses Puffs.  I implore you to try this for yourselves, your kids will thank you, a lot, and repeatedly!

Night at the Museum via #biggcerealmovies

Now, that the treats are done, it’s time for the movie!!  We decided to go with Night at the Museum!  It’s one of our favorites and Gavin hasn’t had a chance to see it yet.  Now he keeps telling us to give him Gum Gum!  It’s funny and annoying at the same time but he had fun so I digress!

In order to get the movie, you must:

  • Visit Big G Cereal Movies.
  • Enter the 16-digit unique codes is printed on the inside of each participating Big G cereal box.  2 codes are needed per movie download.
  • Select from the 10 movies for download
  • Choose to redeem from Target Ticket, Vudu, or Google Play.
  • Next, select the “Redeem” button.

We were able to use Vudu on our PS3 and it only took about 30 minutes to download and start watching, that was pretty quick and the quality was just as good as a Blu-Ray, so yeah, we were impressed!

This is cool! I love how creative you were with the tasty treats! I didn’t know about the free movie, so this is really neat. We may have to do this, too! We try to have family fun night in our house where we watch movies and play games, and the children get to eat their favorite (my youngest, pizza … my oldest, it just depends on her mood at the time lol). I loved reading about your family night!

My family lives movie nights too. With a family of 6 going to the actually movie theater requires a second mortgage lol. We love red box, but it’s great to know that we can get free movies with our normal cereal purchases. Also I love your pudding idea such a nice way to switch it up a bit.
